Hello Edmonton!

Wow. That’s a bit of a weird thing to say but I’m just going to go for it. I just moved to this wonderful city and wow, it’s a bit hard to meet people in the dead of winter. Never really understood that phrase until moving here. LOL. I’m a British guy in my mid twenties. I work in the oil industry (GASP). LOL. Looking for a friend, and all around super amazing person to hang out with, maybe go to the gym (central GoodLife is where I’m signed up right now), movies, beers, whatever. If you’re a female, open to it developing into more, but, not really looking for anything serious. Reach out if you’re cool, chill, fun, and looking for a new friend. Or more. LOL.

“Yeah, yeah…” I blow my nose into a scarf that’s in my backpack in case the bike ride home gets cold. “I’m fine.”

The man, wiry and wearing black cutoffs, a plaid shirt and a Jays hat, hands me his dog’s leash. She’s a bulldog, just older than a puppy. My bike is like a gutted fish leaning against the curb. His hands are covered in grease, just like mine are, as he wrestles the chain back on.

I bought the bike for fifty seven dollars on Craigslist from a Portuguese grandmother with impeccable hydrangeas.

“holier-than-thou” by Sasha in Mary Bollert Hall

I just moved here and my friend Toby in Atlanta said he did one of these Craigslist posts when he first moved there and he met some cool people so… Here goes nothing!
What you might want to know about me:
I clench my teeth when I sleep.
I eat spoonfuls of peanut butter with chocolate chip hats on top for breakfast three out of seven mornings a week.
I have a holier-than-thou attitude towards two things and two things only – politicians and buzz-cuts (politicians with buzz-cuts – BEWARE).
I wear platform shoes even though I can’t really walk in them because being tall is a totally viable aspiration.
I have never smoked a cigarette, gone para-sailing, touched a nipple, eaten squid, shopped at the Gap, or liked the colour fuchsia. (Fuck fuchsia!)
I’m looking for friendship and love in whatever shape, form, size, quadrant, place, space, etc. etc. I don’t discriminate. I just pontificate! Wut wut!

WSW. Craigslist post.
You know when you’re walking down the street, and it’s lush and things are blooming all over the damn place and you suddenly touch your own cheek and you realize “I’m crying from happiness”! That happens to me. At least once a full moon. If it happens to you too, let’s talk. I’m taller than average, with bigger than average feet and kneecaps. I like baseball hats, James Dean, the colour orange and persian carpets. I was born on the East Coast but have called Toronto home since thinking I wanted to be in Journalism and attending University and then having a quarter life crisis and quitting. Now I sometimes hang out in a tattoo parlour and I sometimes bake vegan muffins (the former for money the secondary for pleasure and bowl licking alone). I’m not a vegan, but I dabble in animal protection. I’m not religious but I believe in something bigger than my little (tall) self.
